They point out that the company, while originally Russian, is now wholly international, with data centers based in Switzerland. Kaspersky the company and its eponymous founder Eugene Kaspersky contend that the US is wrong, that Kaspersky software is in no way a security risk. Since 1982, PCMag has tested and rated thousands of products to help you make better buying decisions. Now that the release has arrived, Kaspersky will roll out these new products gradually, so the old and new products will coexist for a few months. The new products were almost ready for release when the war in Ukraine began in February. It’s true that the US government flags Kaspersky as a Russian security risk, but that designation has no bearing on Kaspersky’s product line makeover. It’s awash in features, but its sprawling new layout can make it cumbersome to find a particular component. Kaspersky Standard, reviewed here, roughly takes the antivirus position, and I’ll treat it as such in this review. In addition to Kaspersky Free, it now offers Standard, Plus, and Premium security suites. With its completely new product line, Kaspersky has eliminated the distinction. Sometimes, though, the antivirus has so many features it’s almost a suite. In the security business, it’s common to see a three-tier line of products: a standalone antivirus tool, a security suite with basic features, and a mega-suite with all the bells and whistles. A new feature known as Coherence was added, which removed the Windows chrome, desktop, and the virtualization frames to create a more seamless desktop environment between Windows and Mac OS X applications. This version brought the ability for users with a Windows XP installation to upgrade to Windows Vista from within the VM environment. Carpet not only makes your stairs safer by providing traction to the surface, but it also can be a pleasant addition to the decor of your home. ![]() One of the most common ways to make stairs less slippery is to install carpet. ![]() Method 4: Make Sure Your Stairs Are Up to Code.Method 3: Apply an Anti-Slip Floor Finish.Method 2: Use Anti-Slip Adhesive Stair Treads. In this article, I dive into the ways you can make your stairs less slippery and explain the pros and cons of each method so you can decide which one is right for you. You are required to have at least one handrail for each staircase, but I highly recommend installing handrails both sides for additional support. Your handrail should be between 34 and 38 inches high and clear the wall by at least 1.5 inches but be no more than 4.5 inches. Each stair should be a minimum of 10 inches deep and a minimum of 36 inches wide. Įach stair riser should be no more than 7 ¾ inches tall. In addition to using one of these methods to add traction, I recommend making sure that your stairway and handrail(s) meet today’s residential building code. All three of these methods make the surface of each stair rougher, add traction, and significantly reduce the risk of slipping. The best way to make your hardwood stairs less slippery is to add traction by installing carpet, anti-slip adhesive stair treads, or applying a coat of anti-slip floor finish to the surface of each stair. So the question is, how can you make your hardwood stairs safer and less slippery? One of the few downsides of hardwoods is that their smooth polished surface can be slippery, especially on stairs. ![]() They are easy to clean and they add warmth and beauty to your home. The SpeedStars machine is used as part of the physical education program at the Boys & Girls Club in Marshfield Massachusetts, and SpeedStairs have also been used as part of the games at the Massachusetts Special Olympics.Hardwood floors are very popular these days-and for good reasons. We should note that there are good reasons to include eccentric training in your workouts - if you’re already working out, and you aren’t battling knee problems or other injuries that make going downhill painful and difficult. With the slide, no downhill running is necessary, eliminating these potential complications. Running downhill and down stairs requires eccentric muscle contractions, which, if you’re not properly trained up for them, can cause extreme soreness and even lead to knee injuries. Not only is it faster (and way more fun!) going down the slide, according to the SpeedStairs site, Brown says it also helps eliminate the loss of proper running form that tends to occur when someone is heading down stairs. It can also be customized with a speed bag, heavy bag, TRX bars and straps, resistance bands and a dumbbell rack.Ĭheck it out in action in this video Brown posted to YouTube: It comes with other exercise stations underneath, including a throwing wall and a medicine ball rack. Here’s Brown (left) posing in front of SpeedStairs with his friend and chiropractor Jesse Mead, in a photo posted to the SpeedStairs Facebook page: This eliminates some problems that can come with traditional stair training that require the participant to go down the stairs as well. On SpeedStairs, users perform exercises - from simply walking to doing dynamic three-step jumps - going up a flight of stairs on one side, and come down a slide on the other side. But he realized it could also help a wide variety of exercisers, including those going through rehabilitation after an injury and people with special needs. Instead, he wanted to offer low-impact speed training for athletes to offset their high-impact workouts. Inventor Collis Brown wasn’t necessarily thinking of fun and games when he came up with SpeedStairs, though. SpeedStairs is a combo stair-and-slide group training apparatus. What does up its game is that as we progress into the further levels, the puzzles start being dynamic, meaning there are moving pieces to consider and places that lead further. Some puzzles are quite straight forward to logically solve, others may require some thought and there were ever a few that I got through with trial and error and only saw the link or clue in the level as to what to do. While its normal to see elaborate monuments and structure in this game, Faraway 2 adds a little as well. The lush jungle or exotic setting gives it an appealing tone. While the environments are quite linear as it is touch and move forward to only accessible areas, when we get to look around the world has much more detail. It saves so much headache and makes expansion trivial, just as a belt bus does. Otherwise, we try to use pretrol from the refineries, b/c there is nothing we can do about the production of that petrol. So we set the conditions up to only crack when absolutely necessary. as much as possible, we make solid fuel from light. The point is to crack as little petrol as possible, s.t. ![]() So the last bit is petrol to solid fuel, but only if we have full petrol and no light and no heavy (i.e., we can't refine, due to the full petrol, and we can't crack heavy to light for solid fuel since we have no heavy, and we're not refining more, so we've a glut of petrol and have no choice but to get rid of it.) This setup can also has a similar flaw in that it can get stuck with too much petrol, and in the same way: if we don't consume enough making plastic. But this means that we prefer first what comes from the refinery, and second cracking. A empty tank indicates unmet demand, and a full tank means that the refinery can't meet that demand (a full tank indicates it is backed up emitting product), and thus our only choice is to meet the demand by cracking. I usually set the following conditions: "if light is empty² and heavy is full, crack" and "if petrol is empty and light is full, crack" basically, only crack if we absolutely need to. Now, you can break this stalemate by producing solid fuel (and I can't tell if that's what you're doing or not), but you don't want to get in that situation if you don't have to: solid from petrol is less efficient than from light¹. Your conditions, "If heavy > light, crack" and "if light > petrol, crack", seem to me like they would cause runaway production of petrol if your plastic use can keep up, this is okay, but if you're producing solid fuel from light at a rate that exceeds your plastic consumption (and this happens to me in actual gameplay³) you will end up blocked in the following manner: full petrol, no light/heavy plastic backed up (and thus no petrol consumption) and unmet demand for solid fuel. ![]() ![]() ![]() Try the latest version of Chrome, Firefox, Edge or Safari.
